dots + denim.

What's better than polka dots, denim, and chocolate brown platform wedges? I can't think of anything either. This ensemble and I went to dinner with my lovely mother one night and survived it with no spills at all! (If you know me, you know that's something to brag about.) I had to kick back, relax and twirl around a little to celebrate.

This is look number two with my denim shirt so far, this time I went for more of a glamorous appeal. How have you worn your denim shirt?

And let's talk about the trendy polka dotted print that can be spotted just about anywhere these days. Thoughts?

guess who.

This lady has impeccable style. She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. She is always put together, classy, and dressed to the nines. Her outfits are inspiring and her accessories are awe-worthy. Who is this mysterious style icon?

She's my fabulous mother.

And here is my all-time favorite photo of my parents all dressed up going to a gala.

Cheers to having a fashionable family!

a wonderful weekend.

One of my closest friends, Chelsea, came to visit me in Jacksonville the other day. We had a ball and did it all--we shopped, ate something delicious every few minutes, saw a movie (Magic Mike... enough said), and caught up non-stop with anything and everything there was to talk about. It's so wonderful to be able to have an amazing friend who I have more and more fun (read: cause more and more trouble) with every time we are together! We are always having a good laugh.

We shopped all over the St. John's Town Center wearing these ensembles...

Loving Chelsea's 4th & Ocean mint, teal & citron earrings paired with her H&M bow top and beautiful aqua shorts. I'm wearing one of my favorite Anthropologie necklaces of all time with my 4th & Ocean striped knit dress

Now, here are the outfits we wore to Bento for dinner...

...and here's the beautiful sunset we saw while wearing those outfits.

What fabulous future plans do you have with your closest pals?

laid back in lilac.

Every now and then you just want to wear your pajamas right out of the house and into the public. If you have any of the following, however, you won't: a full length mirror, someone who cares about you, dignity. That is exactly why it is absolutely crucial to incorporate some incredibly comfortable pieces into your wardrobe for times when that lazy feeling overwhelms you.

This lilac tee is as soft as can be, but that's not even the best part! It was on sale at Urban Outfitters for only $4.99--unreal! I can wear it tucked in, tied up, or just plain normal and it still maintains its amazing ability to be oh-so-cozy. This comfy maxi skirt was a steal for only $24.99, too! Both have the stretchiest, softest, and most amazing fabric and yet look absolutely chic when paired together--perfect for lounging around and for being productive--win/win! Since it is all cotton, I (naturally) felt underdressed even to just run errands... so I went ahead and piled on the jewelry, as always. Here's how it turned out.

What are your go-to-items to look (and feel!) effortlessly chic?

missoni saves the (rainy) day.

The day Missoni was released at Target was the day I skipped class to go seek out what all this brilliant designer had in store for me.
A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, right?

My classmates were diligently taking notes on the different effects that fire and chemicals have on various textiles and fibers. Meanwhile, I was completely submerged in chevron heaven and didn't leave Target for hours while debating what items to impulse buy as I repeatedly sorted through those perfectly-patterned pieces that were piled up in my cart. Since it was merely my first trip (of many) I felt like I should be at least semi-conservative and responsible so I only bought a few of the absolute necessities. (...A tray that I had no place for, file folders simply to decorate my desk, a set of pencils that I could barely bear to sharpen, etc.) One of the items that I had buyer's remorse for not buying was a fabulous pair of rainboots. I couldn't believe that I didn't buy them--I would get SO much use out of them and would have them forever... but no. They were sold out in my size (or anything close to it) by the time I returned a day or so later. I thought that was the end to my journey, but oh was I wrong.

My birthday rolls around in January (all things Missoni were long gone at this point) and I took a trip home to celebrate with my family. As I was madly opening my presents, I came across this odd shaped and rather heavy box that truly piqued my interest. What could be inside?! I tore through the peacock feather printed wrapping and squealed with disbelief/joy/true bliss/eternal happiness when I laid my eyes on the exact boots I'd been lusting over for MONTHS! A mother always knows, right?! I was absolutely shocked and to say I was thankful would be a ridiculous understatement. I thanked my parents profusely and paraded around wearing my brand new boots while simultaneously doing a rain-dance.  It was one of the most memorable days of my life.

So, here they are, worn casually with a cotton peplum top, high-waisted denim shorts, a citron headband, and a handful or two of jewelry. I wore this ensemble on my hunt for the perfect pair of 'mom jeans' (no, you normally don't hear those words in the same sentence) to make into high-waisted cut-offs. Details on that adventure to follow!

What's your take on the infamous impulse-purchase? To swipe or not to swipe...
