I have recently signed a lease for my first ever apartment; I could not be more thrilled! The possibilities are endless for decorating. I will have my own space to fill up with anything & everything that makes me smile. One of the most crucial aspects to decorating is having your signature touch in your surrounding space. Sure, anyone could come in and decorate your home for you; I am sure it looks lovely. But lovely is quite contrary from filled-with-love. This is your area. You could be sitting in your bathtub and have the idea of the century, or lounging on your floor cushions in the den when you have the epiphany you have been awaiting. Don't you want your space to be memorable? To reflect your personality? To be full of joy, relaxation, and inspiration? But of course. And you're absolutely entitled to it! As all of this was running through my mind, I found it difficult to choose how to furnish and accessorize my future abode. Would it be deep, saturated jewel tones with thick, rich materials like velvet and satin.... or perhaps full of light and a soothing color palette, with ruffles made of silk and ruched curtains floating atop the window? Regardless, it will be "me."

After doing a strenuous inspiration compilation from the web, I have come up with some of the most unique and interesting pieces offered:

1. DIY Shower Curtain. Shower yourself with inspiration! Tuck movie stubs, fashion magazine clips, photos from travel, and anything else you find interesting into the varying pockets and slots! With this man-made masterpiece, the possibilities are endless!

2. Mix & Match Utensils. Build anticipation when you reach into the utensil drawer with this set of patterned forks and knives. The element of surprise is exciting and fresh-just like your meal!

3. Indecisive Window Covering. Feeling like you wish you could have it all? You most certainly can. This incredibly creative curtain lets you have a little bit of everything with the coordinating swatches of fabric sewn right on! Shake up the room by rotating out different pillows each week, each with a different pop color taken from the swatches. Definitely a conversation piece.

4. Pile in Style. These turquoise shelves caught my eye. I imagine them either storing food, as an open-aired pantry if you're lacking storage space, or possibly a shoe rack for your stilettos. Add visual interest by making the top shelf a jewelry box. Take ceramic bowls, teacups, eclectic plates, anything you can find and put a piece of jewelry in each. But on the bottom shelves what you wish-inspirational readings, frames filled with memories, or simply your winter wardrobe's sweaters in alternating bins. The color makes this the perfect accent to a room!

The list goes on, but I wouldn't want to further interrupt your sudden urge to online shop. (Yes, it is completely necessary.) These items can be located and purchased at both Urban Outfitters (shower curtain, silverware & turquoise shelving) and Anthropologie (the fabric swatch curtains)--two of my absolute favorite places. Go on, make your home your own.
