Peacock feathers.

I will elaborate more on this later, but I wanted to post my peacock earrings that I made! I have been obsessing over peacock feathers lately, especially earrings. I've wanted the earrings for quite a while now. They cost $18 at Urban Outfitters and $16 and Kathamandu in Winter Park. Finally, I came to my senses and just made my own. Total cost: $2!!!

Planes & Hurricanes.

Planes: Due to my obession and persistence when asking "WHEN ARE WE GOING TO NEW YORK AGAIN"... my parents have surprised me with a family trip to NYC right near Christmas. How phenomenal is that?! All the Christmas spirit, decorations, and sales (ah!!) will take place right when I'm there. We'll be in NYC from December 22nd until the 24th. Although our time is limited, it will not be wasted. We plan on saving every single bit of money we'll get (including the following: money from grandparents, money from parents, thanksgiving outfit money, Christmas outfit money, Santa gifts in the equivalence of money) and spending it in the one and only, New York City! I'll hit all the unique boutiques, one-time stores, everything of importance. Plus, I'll have so much to show for my trip--talk about souveniers!! I already have my plane outfit semi-planned out. Here's how I'm picturing myself...

Long silhouette.
Long coat over a layer of blouse-y feminine tops.
A scarf strategically tucked under my coat collar to make it pop, ever so slightly.
Layering of necklaces: gold inital necklace for sure, Mom's locket necklace.
My gold link bracelet.
Gold studs for shimmer.
Denim trousers tucked into my amazing chocolate brown suede boots.
Full lucious curly hair.
Big eyelashes and natural make up.
An oversized travel bag on my arm, at the elbow.
Rolling my polkadotted suitcase with the baggage tag that reads: "Everyone has their baggage." ha!
Sleek gloves.
Brown fedora to coordinate with my boots.
Starbucks caramel latte in the other hand.
Paused in the middle of the sidewalk, just looking around, taking it all in.

I really cannot wait!

Hurricanes: We have been blessed, hah, with Hurricane Fay this week. Monday was our first day of school. Tuesday and Wednesday were off due to the strong winds and heavy rains. (Although unapparent to us, weathermen insisted that we were safe at home to dodge this nasty storm..hmm) Speaking of Fay, she’s swooping in and potentially taking our power! Better post before I lose it! More to come with updates on Fay.

Inspiration.

So this is it! I've been attempting to create one of these for quite a while, but never seemed to make time for it. My inspiration came from Dominio Magazine, the September issue of 2008, page 65, to be exact. I visited Jenny Gordy's blog, http://wikstenmade.com/. She had updates referring to her store. This immediately caused an epiphany for me, seeing as I was recently hired at Lavished, http://shoplavished.com/, a couture boutique located next to Panera (for now). From now on, every Saturday of mine will be spent in the lovely Lavished from 9 a.m. til 6 p.m., from open until close! I figured what a perfect opportunity to document this key period in my life! My first job, my first true step toward my dream of working in the fashion industry, my first opportunity for major connections, my first dress was constructed, as shown above, and much more. I feel ulitamtely mature, and I only wish high school and college could be over with and I would be living in NYC in my stylish apartment pursuing my dream. It will happen, give me about 8 years. Life is good right now. I'm focusing incredibly on my schoolwork. I have goals for college. Right now I'm looking into the Fashion Program at FSU. Please note the appropriately colored dress, FSU colors and all. We sell that Gypsy 05 (all organic, colors made from plant dyes) maxi dress at Lavished. Also in solids, the mustard yellow. They go fast! That is all for now, I'm thinking about making a delicious salad for lunch. Here's what appeals:
Lettuce-in-a-bag with spinach leaves,
cucumbers,
cherry tomatoes,
celery,
black olives,
cheese chunks,
green pepper,
red pepper,
red onion (looks purple to me),
with olive oil viniagrette dressing,
all over a personal pizza crust.
Tasty & delicious!
I'll post my new hair idea later.
